There’s something emotional about photographing a family just before a big life change. This beautiful family photo session in the New Forest, Hampshire was exactly that—a moment suspended in time before a new chapter.
This gorgeous mum came to me wanting more than just photos. She wanted family memories before they relocate abroad. The New Forest held a special place in their hearts, and it felt only right place to capture their family story.
The weather on the day was cloudy, which actually worked really well. The soft light made everything look calm and natural, without any harsh shadows. It suited the relaxed style they were after.
We kept the session very easy-going. The boys were free to run around, explore, and just be themselves. There was no pressure to pose—just natural moments as they spent time together. They laughed, played, and stayed close to their parents, which made for very genuine photos.
They brought along a wedding veil, which was a really lovely and personal touch. We used it as a blanket—not just to sit on, but also to play with. The boys had fun hiding under it and running around with it, which added a lot of movement and energy to the session. It made the photos feel even more personal and unique.
While walking through the forest, we also spotted some of the famous New Forest ponies. The boys were really excited to see them, and we took a moment to stop and watch. It added another special memory to the session and helped tell the story of their time in the New Forest.
This session was a great reminder that family photos don’t need to be complicated. Just being together, in a place that matters, is more than enough. Now they have a set of images to take with them—something to look back on and remember this chapter of their lives.
If you would like to capture moments like this, do get in touch, and I would love to create beautiful memories for you and your family.
Till next time.
